Update/Please Keep Praying

Asher had his MRI done today to give the doctors more information about the condition of his heart. We are still waiting to hear back about what they found and should have some more information to post regarding that tomorrow. They are still looking to do the surgery this Wednesday, but nothing is really set in stone. Hopefully we can firm that up for those of you wanting to join us in fasting and prayer by tomorrow as well.

We met with his surgeon today, Dr. Dicampli. He is a tall man with soft hands and a gentle manner. He gave us the run down of exactly what they wanted to do to repair Asher's heart and ran through all of the complications that we could expect. Not exactly an easy conversation to have about your newborn son. Matt asked him about what we should be targeting in prayer and he gave us a list:

Pray that Asher continues to grow stronger and that any swelling would be gone before the surgery. Pray that Asher stays infection free and that his heart functions well during and after the surgery. Pray that the doctor's hands would be steadied throughout the surgery and that no vital nerves would be damaged. Pray strength to Asher's lungs, so that he can come off the ventilator soon and has no difficulty feeding. Pray that his heart will be repaired in this one surgery and not require subsequent surgeries as Asher grows. Pray that his brain, kidneys, gut and liver would be preserved and not harmed during the surgery.

Please keep us in your prayers also. I was personally believing for a beautiful new heart to be beating in my Asher's chest by now and what I found instead was some increased swelling of the abdomen. I feel a little deflated and just need some prayer. ~Erika~

We need prayer now more than ever. We need sustained prayer for our little boy. Not for a week or even two weeks but for the long haul. It has been my experience in church life thus far that people pray while it is exciting until "the next thing" comes and grabs their attention. Please, I am pleading with you to keep pressing with us. Asher needs your prayers now more than ever and so do we. So please keep the fire burning for us. We need the body right now to intercede at a marathon pace and not a sprint.

Thank you all for praying for us. It means more than you know and we can feel it when it's being offered up on our behalf. Please keep us in your prayers continually. We just want to go home and have our family all in the same house again. I hate having our family segmented like this it tears me apart and we need prayer for this area as well. For grace to press through this.

Bless you all and thank you for your prayers. Keep them coming.

Blessings in Jesus' Name

I wish I could be with you guys tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you and praying along with so many who know you and so many who don't. Know that you are not alone. God will be with you through this and His will be done. We don't know His mind but we know we can trust Him in all things.... even the things that are most difficult to bear. Keep faith with Him and you know He keeps his faith in you.
Love always,
Mom Sue
